Mayan Chocolate Truffle - Tea Review

Mighty Leaf

Rating: 14.5/20

Mayan Chocolate Truffle

As delicious and subtly variable as tea is, sometimes it seems like the adventurous drinker’s options are rather limited. What a sweet surprise it is, then, to discover Mighty Leaf’s Mayan Chocolate Truffle, part of the company’s Chocolate Truffle Tea Collection. An infusion of chocolate, chili and red pepper, with a toothsome touch of apple and strawberry, this rich, spicy beverage tastes like cocoa minus the cream, and with an added kick. Besides being a less fatty substitute for when you’re craving chocolate, the tea is caffeine-free, making it perfect to drink with—or as—dessert. We liked the smoky-sweet flavor especially when we let the tea steep a little longer than the company’s five minute advisory: call it an even Mightier Leaf. True chocolate champs can also check out the other Chocolate Truffle Flavors, including Chocolate Orange, Chocolate Mint and Pear Caramel. Several elegantly-packaged gift sets are also available, featuring a half dozen flavors—though even after tasting them all, we are still inclined to say, “Make mine Mayan.”

Price: $8 for 4 oz.
